We’re mid-way one of the hardest bargaining rounds we’ve had at Sydney Uni, and we need all hands on deck to bring a strong union win!

What is RAFA?
We are a group of rank-and-file unionists in the National Tertiary Education Union at Sydney University, fighting for a fair university and education for all.
We are working together to do our best to organise the union’s rank-and-file towards activity (read our principles here).
We meet weekly on Mondays, so please get in touch here if you’d like to be involved
“here is a group that brings the best of dynamic activist politics to the challenges that define our lives” – Sophie Loy Wilson
“Our university needs a militant and nonsectarian Left committed to upholding and improving our conditions” – Cole Kirkby
We ran in the 2022 elections for Branch Committee, standing for democratic principles about how our branch should operate, and a clear vision for how our union can get real wins. We were proud to see Nick Riemer re-elected unopposed as branch president, David Brophy as branch Vice President Academic, and Finola Laughren as Casuals Representative, alongside four ordinary branch committee reps.
We also ran for National Council, to contest the national leadership of our union, receiving 3 positions out of our unions 7 reps to national council.
The elections is long gone, and far more important than the election is actually getting down and organising.
RAFA in Action
We’ve been busy flyering for the mass meeting and upcoming strikes, and making calls.
And of course rallying on the streets, and leading the pickets.
Get involved today! We have resources for the strikes and resources to help spread the word about rank and file action.
