We’re a group of unionists at Sydney University who believes our union needs to be democratic, powerful and fighting to be effective. We believe that the centre of any successful union is strong rank and file self activity in its membership.
2026 Elections
We’re standing in the 2026 Branch Elections as a the best placed grouping to lead the branch during the next term, which will begin at a crucial point in the current bargaining round. We believe in members’ willingness to fight for their rights and will oppose premature concessions to management. We are for widely-endorsed, democratic militancy that maximises participation. We oppose both conservative pessimism and radical grandstanding in industrial strategy. Read our election statement here.

What is RAFA?

We are a group of rank-and-file unionists in the National Tertiary Education Union at Sydney University, fighting for a fair university and education for all.
We are working together to do our best to organise the union’s rank-and-file towards activity (read our principles here).
We meet regularly on Fridays, so please get in touch here if you’d like to be involved

RAFA in Action
We believe in walking the walk, not just talking the talk, and have played a strong role in organising both during and after the 2022-2023 strike campaign, whether in workplace organising or rallying on the streets.

Vote for RAFA, but most importantly get involved today! A union can only be as only as strong as its membership.
